 Seachtain na Gaeilge
Bhi an-spórt againn i rith na seachtaine. Rinneamar alán eachtraí, bhí céilí mór sa halla
agus tráth na gceist sna hárdranganna. Bhí ceolchoirm againn freisin, chanamar amhráin
agus dúramar dánta agus rannta. Thaitin sé go mór linn.
Intercultural Day

On 19th May 2009 we held our first Intercultural Day. We have children from many different lands  and 18 countries were represented in the hall on the day. They were Lebanon, Spain, Nigeria, Belarus, U.S.A. Tunisia, Angola, India, Lithuania, Trinidad, China, Chile, Brazil, Poland, Ukraine and Ireland. The day was an opportunity for  us to find out about all these countries. It gave our international pupils and their families the chance to teach us about their culture and traditions. It was lovely to see some of our girls and their parents in their traditional costumes. All the colours greatly added to the atmosphere in the hall. Some of our parents sent in samples of traditional dishes which everybody enjoyed and these disappeared very quickly! We were entertained by a Chinese musician and a Brazilian group of musicians/dancers who invited the girls to join in which they did with great enthusiasm. Some parents gave a short talk about their countries and customs. The day was a great success and we intend to repeat the experience next year.
Visit to 3M
5th and 6th class at the launch of 3mFuturewise website in the 3M office.
5th and 6th class girls were very privileged to be invited to launch the Futurewise website in the 3M office in Carrickmines recently.3Mfuturewise.ie is a new website where students can explore a virtual town and engage with different aspects of sustainable living. The girls did a presentation, composed a jingle about saving energy and drew posters showing how we save energy in our school. Then the class showed the staff of 3M how to play a new board game called Eco-opoly,it was great fun. Anna Daly from TV3 also made a speech about sustainable living and we had lots of photos taken which appeared in The Sunday Business Post and local papers. Before we left we were treated to refreshments and were given goodie bags of some 3M products. We had a wonderful day thanks to Bronagh from Junior Achievement,Paul Knowles and all the staff at 3M who made us so welcome and gave us a day to remember.

European Day of Languages
To celebrate European Day of Languages Mrs. Morgan and Mrs Taylor organised a display of items from many European countries. The children brought in dolls, ornaments, books, pictures and posters and some girls wore costumes. It was a very colourful display and everyone enjoyed it.
