2019-2020: Dún-Laoghaire Rathdown Sports Partnership
In February 2019, we had our first meeting with Shane McArdle, Sports Coordinator with Dún Laoghaire Rathdown. Shane gave us lots of great advice and it is great to know that he and all of the team in Sports Partnership will be supporting us throughout the Active School process and beyond. At our first meeting we learned of the 'Daily Mile' event in Marlay Park on May 9th 2019. We will definitely be there!
April 2019-Our Lady's now in Partnership with the F.A.I.!
Our new partnership with the F.A.I. came about as a result of a suggestion in our Suggestions Box. Some children suggested that we start a soccer team in our school and long story, but here we are! Maggie, an F.A.I. Development Officer taught 5th Class the skills of soccer over 6 sessions in 2019, culminating in a fun soccer blitz with another local school.. We are hoping to continue this partnership with the FAI in the future.

Run a Mile Medals and Certificates!
Through our partnership with Dún Laoghaire -Rathdown Sports Partnership, we received fabulous medals and certificates after completing our Run A Mile Challenge in November 2020. It really was the icing on the cake after a wonderful month and a great boost to the children's morale. Some of our younger children were still wearing their medals many days after receiving them!
In Partnership with our Parents Association
At the beginning of our Active School process, we asked if we could have permanent basketball hoops for our hall as the portable hoops were difficult to store away etc. Thank to the Parents Associations in both schools and their hard work fundraising, our wish was finally granted in November 2020. We are delighted with our newly lined basketball court and hoops. This will be wonderful for PE lessons and after-school basketball. Thank you again to both Parents Associations!
