As part of our unit of work based on The Famine, we got 'lumper' potato seeds, the variety that got blight during the famine, and planted them in the garden in grow bags. We will have to watch for blight ourselves and use a fungicide to treat it. We will harvest the potatoes in October. Most importantly, we remember the 1 million people who died and 2 million who emigrated during that sad time in our history.
WE are delighted to announce that we now have a school soccer team. Maggie, an FAI Development Officer, is coaching 5th Class and will continue to do so when the girls are in 6th Class. We will be having our first match between now and the summer holidays and will play in the league next year!
