The girls in Room 7 have been working hard over the past few months on an alien-themed art project. This project incorporated nearly all of the strands of the Visual Arts curriculum - Drawing; Paint and colour; Clay; Construction and Fabric and fibre. The girls designed an alien and then made the alien using Clayotic (a lovely colourful, non-messy air-drying clay). They then designed a home for the alien and constructed that home out of a shoebox using paint and fabric and fibre. Take a look at the finished products below!
As part of 'International Fairtrade Fortnight', we all took part in a huge fairtrade assembly organised by Ms Sharkey. Fourth class introduced the assembly and spoke about fairtrade. Then pupils from each class presented a selection of their work to the whole school. Infants painted and drew fairtrade logos and some pupils even designed their own. First class designed and coloured in fairtrade fruit baskets with fairtrade fruit only! First and Second class designed fairtrade posters with brilliant slogans. Second and Third class researched fairtrade farming and designed very artistic posters with slogans. Fourth class wrote fairtrade recipes with fairtrade ingredients and made a recipe book! Fifth class researched fairtrade, designed powerpoint presentations and performed very informative dramas on fairtrade.
Sixth class researched fairtrade fashion companies and shops that sell fairtrade clothes. Their presentations were most interesting and gave us all lot to think about before we buy again. The assembly concluded with a lovely song composed by Ms. Sharkey entitled.....Ceannaigh agus díol fairtrade! We all really enjoyed the assembly. Remember to look for the fairtrade logo and .....buy fairtrade. Enjoy our fairtrade slideshow.
First Class started learning the violin this year and they have had ten lessons so far. The girls hope you enjoy their rendition of 'Jingle Bells' on the violin. Look at the concentration on those little faces! Watch the performance here.
The girls in Room 7 learned how to use PowerPoint! We worked with a partner to research information on a topic and we then used PowerPoint to share what we learned with the class. Take a look at our hard work!

Thanks to Ms O'Neill for sharing the "You'll Never Beat the Irish Thai Tims" song with all of us. We had great fun learning and performing it all together, it really got us in the spirit for the EUROS!
As part of our 1916 activities this year, First and Second Class worked on an ancestry project. We studied the life of Edward Walsh, a relative of one of the girls in our class, and his role in the 1916 Rising. We hope you enjoy our project!
Congratulations to all the boys and girls in Our Lady's Schools who made their First Holy Communion yesterday. We are all very proud of you and we hope you had a lovely day.
