The Green-Schools' Committee and Fourth Class recently prepared and took part in a wonderful assembly, 'Not so Fantastic Plastic'. They informed us all about plastic and how it is causing a huge pollution problem in the environment, especially in the ocean. Here are some very important facts about plastic:

- The majority of plastics are not 100% biodegradable;
- When plastic is in the sea, it will stay forever!
- There are six Gyres in the oceans. These are huge currents of plastic waste swirling around forever;
- Fish, whales, dolphins, seals, sea birds and fish are all at risk because of the plastic waste in the ocean;
- Plastic is also making its way into the food chain.
- Say "NO" to plastic;
- Buy and use a reusable bottle;
- Bring your own reusable bag when you go shopping;
- Say "NO" to plastic straws;
- Buy and use a reusable cup.
