Room 15: In Memory of The Irish Famine

23/5/2019

As part of our unit of work based on The Famine, we got 'lumper' potato seeds, the variety that got blight during the famine, and planted them in the garden in grow bags. We will have to watch for blight ourselves and use a fungicide to treat it. We will harvest the potatoes in October. Most importantly, we remember the 1 million people who died and 2 million who emigrated during that sad time in our history.
