School Activities
Music Programme
We run a Music Programme for all classes during school hours in partnership with the Churchtown School of Music. Classes take place as follows:
Classes take place once a week for between 30-40 minutes depending on the class and run from September to April. The programme finishes each year with a concert to allow the children to demonstrate all they have learned during the year. During the 2015/2016 school year we set up a school orchestra for the first time. The orchestra meets before school at 8 am on Tuesday mornings with our music teachers.
Green Schools' Programme
In 2004 we were awarded our first Green Flag in recognition of our effort to "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle" and since then Our Lady's has had a very active Green Schools' Committee working hard to keep us aware of environmental issues. We've studied water and how to conserve it, we've encouraged our school community to "Walk on Wednesdays" and in May 2015 we achieved our sixth Green Flag for our study of Biodiversity. We have been working hard over the past few years on the topics of Global Citizenship and Climate Change and in March 2018 we achieved our seventh Green Flag! Very well done to all involved and long may the hard work continue!
Public Speaking
Each year our Sixth Class are given the opportunity to participate in a Public Speaking Competition. Each girl picks a topic of her choice, researches it and acquires the skills involved in making a presentation.
Active School Flag Programme
Active School Flag (ASF) is a Department of Education and Skills initiative supported by Healthy Ireland. In early 2018, we embarked on the ASF Programme, with a view to being awarded our very first Active School Flag in May 2020. The ASF is awarded to schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school. In order to achieve the flag, we will have to say 'yes' to approximately 40 'success criteria'. In order to achieve this, we are currently self-evaluating every aspect of our P.E. Programme along with organising an Active School Week each year.

Games Promotion Officers from St. John's G.A.A. Club in Ballinteer give weekly Gaelic Football and Camogie lessons (depending on the time of year) during school hours. Each class gets a block of lessons.
